The Salon is on in ON! I just finished putting up the Toronto Salon page on the Creative Commons wiki, and the blog entry ("CC Salon in Toronto, Tuesday May 16th") is up on the Creative Commons Canada site.
Long and short: I couldn't find a funky, crazy venue, but Maj managed to track down a half-decent pub (The Elephant and Castle Pub on Yonge Street, about 20 feet from our hotel room). I booked the upper level for a private event, and now all we need is to get the thing started. Looks like it's going to be fun.
Anyone Torontonians, or anyone who's going to be in town for the Mesh Conference, should swing by for some Creative Fun.
Dinner at Heather and Damien's
We had a delicioso Indian feast at our friends Heather and Damien's tonight. Amita was a bit grouchy, since the meal started after her bed time, but we managed to keep her distracted with Indian breads long enough to eat, chat, and get home before she blew her top.
Heather Kelley is a game designer at Ubisoft; she designed this great game called Lapis that is a stealth instruction manual on female sexuality. Damien is a pop musician (http://www.future-boy.net/) and all-around guy-who-knows-how. They moved to Montreal from Texas a couple of years ago -- they did Burning Flipside down there, and now they're part of our Burning-Man-slash-Souper circle of friends in Montreal. We like them a lot -- they've got great geek chic.
