Journal/24 Floréal CCXIV from Evan Prodromou

It's Mother's Day tomorrow, and Maj asked that instead of a trip out of town or a fancy dinner at a restaurant, I help her set up our front lawn and an office for her in the library. But it's raining like a monster here today... hopefully we'll see what we can do.

We're off to Canadian Tire to get yard supplies and some inexpensive furniture, with maybe a stop at Ikea for a big tuffet for the baby. Retail therapy for a rainy day.

Today's flower on the FrenchRevolutionaryCalendar? is valériane (valerian (plant)), a gentle sedative. It's an urban myth that valium comes from the plant.

Days go by

By my count, I've now completed my first décade with this journal. Fantastico! It's actually turned out easier than I thought -- I feel pretty OK just opening it up and writing. The wiki format makes it easy to branch off into more indepth discussions that stick around for longer when I feel like it.

Welcome back Tara and Chris

Our friends Tara and Chris spent half a year in India and just got back recently. We went over to see them and some other folks from McGill's library program tonight. Teodora and Alain Cardinal were the hosts -- very nice couple indeed. Their daughter Sophie is really precocious -- I hope Amita June is that self-assured when she's 5.

Planet Debian

I added my feed to Planet Debian... and I'm showing up on that page. Woohoo!

I got interested in the whole planet idea, and now I want to set one up for official Creative Commons and iCommons blogs as well as personal blogs by Creative Commons folks. I just registered feedmixer.cc... this may or may not work, but it will at least be interesting.
