Big week for me in and around the media. Huzzah for fame and fortune!

Web 2.0 APIs

I'm really happy that an article I wrote for Linux World on Web APIs for software development was published. Called Ten Web 2.0 APIs you can really use, it covers the APIs available today that are really useful for more than just gee-whiz mashups. I'd covered a few of the services when I did a story for LW on the Web 2.0 Summit, so Don Marti asked me to follow up with a full rundown on the world of Web APIs right now.

Wikitravel on the AP wire

On the other side of the media lens, Wikitravel is one of the sites featured in an article on the API wire by Anick Jesdanun called Travelers contribute to online guides. Although the article covers a lot of other travel sites, and even has some sour grumpiness by proprietary travel guide publishers, I think it's very favorable to Wikitravel.

Thanks, Tom

Also, it was nice of Tom Brown from Stuffopolis in talking about his OpenID Podcast to say that the OpenID extension for MediaWiki is "excellent". Gawrsh!
